Does siberian eleuthero help women’s sex drive? How much is needed and how long before seeing a difference?

General

I am a 32 year old healthy female. Unfortunately, now that I’m married to the most wonderful guy in the world in my opinion, I feel like I’m lacking in libido. In my high school and college days I had a very fun and healthy libido. I even would get multiple orgasms. Now in my 30’s, I’m struggling to have a sex drive. Could siberian eleuthero help me? How much should I take each day? What’s the best brand? How long before I see a difference? Is there something better that would help me enjoy sex again or reach orgasm before my husband tires out waiting for me? He’s satisfied with the sex but I know I can be better and it’s really frustrating to me. Please help.

Pubmed is a search index for peer-reviewed (and thus more reliable) medical research. I used it to investigate your question.

Ginseng (eleuthero) may help libido (see link below). However, it’s main action seems to be similar to Viagra, and thus probably it helps male libido more than female.

Digging around in the medical literature, the consensus of opinion seems to be that while libido can be improved if its lack is a result of clear medical problems, there are no effective aphrodisiacs otherwise.

It is quite possible that your birth control pills are causing problems with libido. You might need to alter formulation, or switch to a non-hormonal birth control method. The review listed below suggests that altering formulation may alter problems with libido.

I personally suspect that the problem is stress: in high school and college, you had very little else going on. Now, presumably, you’ve got work and/or kids on your mind. I’d recommend going out of your way to destress in the evening. The quick fix for many people is a small amount of alcohol …

Alternately, you could have an affair with your husband. By this, I mean, if you’ve got the time, go out of your way to plan time with him. The mental processes involved in doing so are likely to enhance your libido.
