Why Can't I Get It Up?

Thu, Jul 21, 2011

General

I am an 18 year old man and I’ve suddenly been having troubles with keeping my erection. It all started when my girlfriend came back from a five-day vacation in New York. I wanted to welcome her back with some afternoon delight but I just couldn’t get it up. I tried multiple times and even when I tried masturbating it could barely stay up or last very long. Now the strangest part is, I have no previous history with erectile dysfunction, I’ve been with my girlfriend for two years and we’ve been having sex for half a year now. And even before that I was a very sexual person since I was 10. She was my first girlfriend I had sex with I mean, but I was very sexual as in being a chronic masturbator and loving the female anatomy. My girlfriend was also just as surprised, I used to last for an hour and give her orgasms (even if you don’t believe the orgasm part i did last for an average hour) I could even bounce back and put in two or three more rounds. We started slow in the beginning of the year, but once school let out, we did it almost 4 times a week with no problem. I even had a good masturbation session before she came back home from New York too. So can someone explain to me how a healthy, sexually-active 18-year old, with no prior history of erectile dysfunction personally and genetically, can suddenly turn limp in a day?

When in doubt, see a good urologist, But If you are 18, and don’t have a serious medical condition, then you have 2 choices for ED
    1) Anxiety
    2) Overuse of Internet porn
    3) Combo of both

So – have you been consistently using Internet porn? If so, the it might be the cause. If not, then it is may be anxiety. One way to know is to compare how hard you get with the following:
    1) Girlfriend – no fantasy
    2) Masturbating – no porn or fantasy, and with normal speed and pressure.
    3) Masturbating using your favorite Internet porn

If #3 gets you harder than #1 & #2, then maybe something’s up.

Over the last 5 years we have seen thousands of young healthy men on forums everywhere discussing porn-induced ED. Many in their teens and twenties. They stop porn – and limit masturbation – and they slowly recover their libido and erectile health. Most health professionals are unaware of this rapidly developing problem.

The problem is in your brain, not your penis. ED caused by porn is not really psychological, it is structural and biochemical changes in specific parts of the brain that control erections and sexual desire.

Here are two excellent presentations, by a science teacher, on the effects of pornography on the brain. They are non-religious, nonjudgmental, and science based. Start with ED & Porn

it may be your imagination. From the way you described it, there’s constant sex between you two, it’s possible that body is simply bored with the same routine. Try some new formation or role playing to help lead a stronger erection up
